BRAND X FLYING NUN SEASON | MAY 10-12 2018
Devised by Carissa Licciardello, Emme Hoy and
A young woman journeys alone through a strange, unfamiliar landscape. She struggles against being too large and taking up too much space, and being so small she is completely overlooked; almost drowns in a sea of tears she is not supposed to cry; and is made to question her own perception as things change colour before her eyes.
This is the story of Alice in Wonderland, but not as you know it.
In this production, Lewis Carroll’s classic tale is abstracted into a dark theatrical phantasmagoria. Fractured through a contemporary lense, Alice’s disorienting journey down the rabbit hole is reimagined as a modern coming-of-age tale. Drawing on the striking symbols at the heart of the tale, this modern fable conjures the disorientating experience of young womanhood in the 21st century, and the absurdity and menace of a world where nothing is quite as it seems.
This production is not for children.
